IRS Begins Accepting Returns Today, Most Federal Refunds Expected Within 21 Days
KANSAS CITY, MO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/19/16 --
Even before the IRS started to accept income tax returns today, H&R Block (NYSE: HRB), the world's largest consumer tax preparation company, was already making dreams come true for taxpayers. With the first three drawings complete, there are already thousands of winners in the company's 1,000 Win $1,000 Daily Sweepstakes and they will be picking up those checks soon.
The list of winners includes a soldier stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska; Florida has the most winners through the first few drawings; and in matchups of NFC and AFC championship locations, North Carolina edges Arizona and Massachusetts beats Colorado. Lucky winners prepared their tax returns at an H&R Block the first two weeks of January and now will see that return processed by the IRS along with the millions of others who have filed.
"We are so excited to kick off the official start of tax season by announcing our first $1,000 winners," said H&R Block Chief Marketing Officer Kathy Collins. "Every day we see what a tax refund can mean to our clients and the joy it brings to them. Now we get to celebrate again with the lucky winners getting another $1,000 on top of their refund. This contest is about putting the 'fun' in Refund Season."
Anyone who files their taxes in a participating H&R Block office by Feb. 15 can be automatically entered into the sweepstakes. For more information, including official rules and other ways to enter, taxpayers can visit www.hrblock.com/grand.
"This campaign is about real people winning real money," Collins said. "And for the next month there will be hundreds of celebrations in hundreds of cities daily celebrating Refund Season with our $1,000 winners."
