Aug 9, 2007

Tax class curriculum ranges from basic returns to complex deductions

LAKE FOREST, Calif., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Due to an increasing need for qualified tax professionals, H&R Block plans to hire for the 2007 tax season and again will offer an introductory income tax course.

The 11-week course begins in mid-September, includes 66 hours of instruction and generally meets for three hours twice a week. H&R Block offers the course in English as well as a bilingual course in Spanish. Multiple classes are offered, and course schedules are flexible so it is possible to take the course without sacrificing existing work or school schedules.

The H&R Block Income Tax Course is designed to help students learn about both basic and highly complex tax situations. From identifying the correct filing status and number of dependents to learning how to qualify for deductions related to self-employment and alternative-energy vehicle purchases, the course enhances the student's comfort level with the tax-preparation process.

Enhance Your Job Skills

Students will discover that the skills they learn can enhance performance in their current job and possibly open the door to a new career that puts the skills they'll acquire during the classes to good use.

"This course really appeals to a wide-range of people, from those with finance and accounting backgrounds to people just wanting to make sure they're getting all the deductions they can," said Jose L. Castaneda, H&R Block district manager. "Whether you're interested in preparing your own taxes or becoming an H&R Block tax professional, this course offers something for everyone."
